Retrofitting Existing Buildings with Geen Roofs

Canada’s building stock is relatively old. According to Statistics Canada’s 2000 Commercial and Institutional Building Energy Use Survey [CIBEUS], about 70% of the country’s commercial and institutional buildings were constructed before 1980. 1Since these older buildings consume more energy than their newer counterparts, retrofitting them with energy-efficient technologies can have significant impact on the building sector’s overall energy profile.   read more
